Please join me for the best filmed version of a Christmas Carol (1951). Well, it’s a little heavy on the Freudian sauce, but still great. For me the Spirits are the stars – they may be the best you’ve ever seen. At least the Spirit of Christmas, Yet to Come is pretty scary. Alistair Sim is Scrooge (yes, it’s English). It’s in glorious B&W and probably cost no more than a couple of hundred bucks to produce, after all the goose is pretty skinny. But this is the real plum-pudding version.
