Movies have long tried to predict the future. I certainly don’t mean only Science Fiction genre pictures. Think about The Shape of Water (2017) for a moment. Blade Runner is a taut thriller, but it’s about pollution driving humans to move off the earth and the question of what it means to be human. That’s plenty for one movie. For escapism we’ll see the original (1977) episode of Star Wars. Will humanity ever evolve further? 2001: A Space Odyssey explains that. Yes, I promise to explain all the weird stuff in that movie.
