Summer Semester: Mosaics Painterly Effects
Explore the art of mosaics in this engaging eight session class. This class will focus on how to cut glass to resemble painting strokes to create flowers, bird feathers and animal fur, etc. Using glass and found objects, students will design a 12 by 12 mosaic with a variety of materials provided. You’re also welcome to bring personal items like trinkets or jewelry to incorporate into your piece. Through demonstrations and one-on-one instruction, you’ll learn the mortar method – no messy grout required! This class offers a fun, supportive environment to spark your creativity and is perfect for anyone curious about trying mosaics. All materials, including a substrate base, are included. A materials fee of $35 will include a 12 by 12 base, mortar, and a set amount of materials for this project. All tools will be provided.
Materials list: Each student is welcome to bring one or two memento objects or relics, if they wish to use them in their mosaic.
