Summer Semester: Weaving for Well-Being
This class will teach a method of weaving on table looms that focuses on the process as meditative and encourages creativity and playfulness. No experience is required, however experienced weavers may also join in the fun. We will use the looms to create beautiful things with wool, bamboo, cotton and found materials. The technique I use is based on the principles of Saori weaving, a Japanese hand weaving style which encourages personal self-expression without rules or restrictions and encourages a zen-like experience. Looms that are already set up (warped) with cotton yarn will be provided. I will also have an array of yarn, fiber and other materials that participants can use to make their own personal woven piece, a wall hanging, scarf, table runner, or other creation. Materials fee of $30 will be applied at registration. No class on July 2.
